Paul Smith joined MCR in January 2010 to establish MCR Debt Advisory with John Hunt.
Prior to joining MCR Paul was Area Director for Bank of Scotland Corporate across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire dealing with clients in the £5m to £500m market. Paul was recruited to Bank of Scotland in 2002 to establish a North West team
and grow the franchise in England and Wales following the merger with Halifax. Paul spent 8 years with Bank of Scotland undertaking a number of senior roles during the period.
Before joining Bank of Scotland Paul worked for Barclays PLC for 17 years in various roles within the corporate arena including relationship management, business development and latterly as Deputy Head of Corporate Banking for the North West.
Paul has extensive experience in dealing with Corporate clients across most sectors including manufacturing, wholesale, real estate, retail, professional, business services and hi tech.
MCR Debt Advisory works closely with clients to assist in renegotiating, restructuring or refinancing funding facilities. It is our aim to always deliver the best funding package available in the market for clients, be that with the existing funders or via refinance.
Paul has a strong network of contacts with all the main Banks and Asset Based Lenders so he can ensure the client is matched with the most suitable provider for their business, both in respect of terms and also the future relationship which is critical.
All assignments are jointly led by Paul and John Hunt. John has 20 years of Corporate Finance experience, both from working in industry as well as in an advisory capacity. The blend of experience between Paul and John we believe gives MCR Debt Advisory a unique and unrivalled offering in the market.
As well as acting as a coach on the NWDA\'s High Growth Programme, MCR Debt Advisory have been also been appointed as the sole funding advisor to Companies currently on the Programme, reinforcing the ‘trusted advisor\' status MCR has firmly established.
Paul is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers.
